We were happy to see faculty participants from the 4-year programs 1 weigh in on several findings from the Length of Training Pilot in response to our paper on the scope of practice according to training length. 2 It was also interesting to review their list of additional findings they have observed in their graduates. We heartily agree that participation in networks focused on residency redesign efforts can influence training outcomes in positive ways, and we will be monitoring the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Advancing Innovation in Residency Education (AIRE) family medicine program efforts in this regard. Educational research can be challenging to conduct, but it is so important for preparing a workforce dedicated to tackling health and health care complexities, especially during a time when education, health, and research are all under attack.
