This breathtaking view of where water meets land, where trees are dressed in white, and where the snowcapped mountains greet the clouds was taken in South Lake Tahoe, California at our annual all-residency retreat in 2018. Like this photo, medicine has its moments of awe and pure joy, but sometimes it can be hard to find in our profession. I found it on this day. I can still hear my child-like laughter as I flapped my arms and legs in this soft snow, creating my first-ever snow angel.
