This snow tunnel was constructed on a frozen lake in rural Maine, where many generations of locals built small ice fishing structures to ward off the elements, while waiting for the fish to bite their lures. I am mesmerized by the light and changes that the seasons bring to the forms of water, and the reality that there is life below the frozen lake. As a family physician working in a small oceanfront town, I have been privy to the stories of generations of families, and have seen how they pass on their knowledge of the land's bounty, ways to work with the seasons and to find beauty in even harsh conditions.
