His eyes stare straight ahead
fixed on a point in history
somewhere through the exam room door, perhaps
Lost
Who is the woman sitting next to him?
I am not sure he knows
anymore, but
for a fragile moment
her hand touches his, and
he looks down
drawn back to us, at least for
now
How do you create a future with someone who is
lost?
They want help planning for what is to come
I gulp at their silence,
try to keep him here, in this moment, for
now
The words I offer are not
enough
There is no pill to form future memories
