She came to me
Drove 6 hours
Found childcare for her perfect two:
One boy and one girl—
no more.

She was four years free from him.
Proud of what she had become.
Year ago, she decided what she wanted—
Tubal

The other Doctor said, “You are too young”
The other Doctor said, “What if one died?”
The other Doctor said, “You are technically still married, your ex needs to sign.”

She came to me,
Family physician who provides abortions
The other doctor, the laws, the cost of divorce, her abusive ex-husband’s decisions—
They would all take her chosen life.
The image of a successful small business and a perfect family of three,
Impossible with another continued pregnancy.

Her decision saved her chosen life.
That is why she came to me.
Now, only a few months later,
Her state has a total ban.
People, like her, can no longer come to doctors like me
We are failing to protect their right to decide.
